Tonight NBC airs not one but 3 new episodes of Community. How will it all end? What should we expect during the 3 episodes, including the finale of Community?

]]>When we heard Eli Manning was going to host Saturday Night Live (SNL) (see video and find links to video from his episode below) this week three words came to mind, “live train wreck.” There is nothing about Eli Manning’s demeanor which suggests he is funny and we were not sure why Saturday Night Live decided to book him for their coveted hosting position.
We were certain Eli Manning would not deliver a Saturday Night Live performance worth talking about or even watching.
Despite our reservations we decided to tune in to Eli’s SNL episode. We knew if anyone could defy our expectations and deliver in a clutch it is Eli Manning. We tuned in to see Eli prove us wrong.
Eli’s Opening Monologue
Eli Manning did not manage to make us into a believer by the end of his opening monologue. To be honest, if it wasn’t for the hilarious pre-taped Amazon “Shades of Grey” sketch immediately following the monologue we would have turned the episode off without a moment’s hesitation.
When Eli opened SNL he was stiff. We felt like Eli was drowning and the only thing keeping him afloat seemed to be his cue cards, which Eli desperately held on to as if it was the last lifeboat on a sinking ship. Eli’s monologue was painful to watch and we doubted Eli’s ability to recover after that cringe-worthy start. Eli, however, did recover and even managed to hold his own in a couple of SNL sketches.
Eli’s best SNL moments
We were entertained by Eli’s performance in the “Text Message Evidence” (see video below). All of the rest of Eli’s live performances felt robotic, however; the “Text Message Evidence” sketch made the Superbowl quarterback human. Eli managed to be funny and relatable in the sketch. We even had a laugh out loud moment when Eli imitated the emoticons he used in text messages and delivered the “banana was bigger” line.
We also like Eli’s pre-taped “Little Brother” sketch. Eli’s “Little Brother” sketch was an obvious, yet clever, reference to the hilarious Peyton Manning’s Saturday Night Live ”United Way” sketch (see video of both below), which aired during Peyton’s hosting tenure almost 5 years ago. Eli did not deliver the laugh out loud moments Peyton provided in his pre-taped sketch, but he did provide the audience with a couple good laughs and managed to hold his own.
Since Eli is an athlete and athlete’s have a well-documented history of not doing well during their stints at Saturday Night Live we already lowered the bar for Eli’s episode. However, Eli managed to barely step over it with his performances in the “Text Message Evidence” sketch and the “Little Brother” sketch.
Eli managed to deliver a performance which was at worst unbearable and at best tolerable and at times even mildly amusing. Eli may not have hit it out of the park but he managed to just scrape by, which was a pleasant surprise for us and all the other naysayers.

]]>The entire television community is a buzz about HBO’s new series Girls. Critics are falling over themselves in their reviews of Girls. Will the series live up to the hype? We will find out tonight when the series premieres on HBO at 10:30/9:30c.

We fell head over heels with this series after the first trailer. In the post-Bridesmaids world we live in, where network executives attempt to create “female centric” series, most of which are led, written and directed by men, Girls (led, run, written and directed by the series star, Lena Dunham) manages to present a fresh, unique perspective.
From what we can tell from the trailers, we do not think Girls will disappoint it’s viewers and are already giving it a permanent place on our must watch list.

In the sneak peek of the episode below Santana shows off her dance moves in lush mobile disco that transports her to the party, her 16 layer cupcake cake and discusses the role of women in her culture. Her brother Patrick on the other hand, uses his time with the camera to discuss ”sexy girls” and how he’s prohibited from saying anything about them because “most of them are my cousins.”

You do not want to miss tonight’s season premiere of Scandal on ABC (10/9c). Kerry Washington is a force of nature as an actress. She’s always been well revered among her peers but never seems to get the consideration, praise and attention she truly deserves from the American public. Scandal has the potential to change all of that and finally put Kerry Washington’s name on the map.
Kerry Washington plays Olivia in the series, a hard-hitting, skillful crisis management consultant who works with high profile clients who hire her and her firm to repair or protect their image. Washington shines in the series and the rest of the cast delivers as well. We cannot wait to see what this series has in store for us this season and are excited to see where Scandal will take us in the upcoming weeks.

We know, however, that the strong and loyal True Blood fans cannot wait for season 5. In an effort to appease you all, we are giving you the trailer released by HBO now. It’s not the season premiere, but it’s the best we can do. Hopefully it will hold True Blood fanatics off.

Tonight TLC’s hit reality tv series, Toddlers and Tiaras, returns for a new season (TLC 10/9c). The series, which always stirs controversy, returns with one of their most talked about pageant stars, Paisley.

You may remember Paisley from last season of Toddlers and Tiaras. Paisley was the 3 year old contestant who came under fire after her mother dressed her up in a Pretty Woman prostitute costume.
Paisley’s mother continues to defend the prostitute costume choice for her three year old even now. In the video clip seen below Wendy says Paisley, “would not be as well known if it were not for that costume.”
Essentially, Wendy’s logic is that if it takes dressing her daughter up as a prostitute to gain notoriety then she is willing to do it.
Toddlers and Tiaras- the most addictive and enticing reality show on television
It is that fuzzy logic that makes Toddlers and Tiaras great. People may have objections to the series but most can’t help but admit the TLC reality series is one of the most addictive and enticing reality series on television.
To it’s credit TLC does a great job casting a variety of contestants. Each season they cast a variety of girls. We see contestants who are willing to bare all if it means a title and others with strict moral guidelines. We see girls who will do anything to win and others who are gracious, kind and humble. We see contestants who are looking for opportunities and others who just want the crown and the cash.
Year after year, despite the complaints and backlash, TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras manages to come out on top. Viewers may try to fight it, but it’s pointless, Toddlers and Tiaras is a reality series that eventually sucks you in, demands your attention and DVR space.
This season should be no different. By starting out with Paisley the people over at TLC are making a bold statement. If Paisley is the opening course for this season of Toddlers and Tiaras then the series is sending a message that the best is yet to come.
We cannot wait to see this season of Toddlers and Tiaras. If watching this series is wrong, then we don’t want to be right.

Smash: Drink to That- Karen and Ivy's impromptu performance (Video)
One of the things we love most about Smash is the dynamic between Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee) and Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty), the two actresses who initially battled it out for the role of Marilyn.
Seeing Karen and Ivy compete for Marilyn earlier this season was thrilling. Watching the girls battle it out after Ivy won the part was incredible. But our favorite moment between Karen and Ivy this season came during this week’s episode of Smash when the two teamed up for a fun and entertaining performance of the popular song, “Drink to That.”
Here’s the set up. A drunk and high (off prescription drugs) Ivy runs into Karen after bombing a performance as a chorus member of “Hell on Earth.” The two go out, get drunk, and bond. The girls end up doing an impromptu performance to “Drink to That” on the streets of New York.
It was a great moment between the two characters and yet another great performance for Smash. See the performance below and judge it for yourself.
