Anyone who believes soap operas are dead hasn’t seen Revenge this season.

Revenge is a delicious little drama centered around Emily Thorne (formerly known as Amanda Clarke), a girl who has returned to her childhood home in the Hamptons, disguised her identity, and set out to execute a plot to destroy the people who destroyed her father’s life.

Emily is out to get all the people who double-crossed her father, had him falsely accused, arrested, tried and convicted for funding a terrorist organization which claimed responsibility for a plane crash that killed hundreds.

The premise of Revenge, utterly absurd. The show itself, absolutely addictive.

Think of it as Pretty Little Liars all grown up. You cannot help but watch and fall in love with Revenge. It’s utterly delightful.

Here are the five reasons we love this series and why we think you need to stop what you’re doing and catch up with all 10 episodes for free on ABC.com before the show returns on Jan. 4th.

5 Reasons you should stop what your doing and watch Revenge online for free at ABC.com right now:

1. Victoria Grayson

If you loved Erica Kane. If you love women who are the walking breathing embodiment of femme fatale, then you will love Victoria Grayson.

Victoria is played by the brilliant Madeleine Stowe, who was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in this series.

Victoria Grayson is the matriarch of the Grayson family, the family responsible for David Clarke’s, Amanda aka Emily’s father, demise.

Victoria is a character you will love to hate and hate to love. Stowe’s performance is one you can’t miss.

2. Get caught up on Emily’s absurd yet devious and well thought out plan for Revenge

We’ve already conceded Revenge’s premise is ridiculous.

Emily’s plan for revenge, even more absurd. Yet, we cannot stop watching Emily as she embarks on her dark journey of revenge

The fact that Emily decided to dedicate her entire life to getting revenge for her dead father even though she could have turned in all the evidence she acquired over the years to restore his good name, send everyone involved in the cover-up to jail, move on and enjoy her life with all her money is crazy.

The fact that we are engrossed by Emily’s evil, overly-complicated, way too messy, totally unnecessary plan, is even crazier.

Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with Emily’s Pinky and the Brain plan to right her father’s wrong.

It’s a good idea to catch up with Emily and see where she is on the “roadmap to revenge” before the next new episode airs.

3. Complicated Love Triangles

If Revenge is a dish best served cold then the perfect side would be juicy love triangles. Revenge delivers on the romance drama.

  • Does Emily love Daniel, the only son of the Graysons, or Jack (her childhood sweetheart)? Does Jack love Emily (aka Amanda) or Amanda (aka Emily)?
  • Does Conrad love Lydia or Victoria?
  • Can Victoria love anyone at all or did she lose her ability to love when she was forced to turn against Emily’s father David, who she was secretly having an affair with and at one point planned to leave her husband for?
  • Did Victoria actually love Frank?

Then there is Tyler. Crazy little Tyler. Revenge is so good it delivers straight love triangles as well as bi-sexual love triangles.

The Tyler, Ashley, Nolan love triangle, brilliant and jaw dropping.

  • Is Tyler bi-sexual or just an opportunist?
  • What about his jealously towards Emily in regards to her relationship with Daniel?
  • Did Tyler hate Emily because she was jeopardizing his potential meal ticket or because he was secretly obsessed with his Harvard classmate Daniel?

We loved watching all the love triangles unfold and refold on Revenge. You’ll love watching them too. These are the type of love triangles you need to see to believe.

4. The Insane and Unpredictable Twists

Just when you think you have Revenge all figured out they throw a wrench into the equation. The show started off with a big bang (a potential death) and its been delivering fireworks all season.

In the world of Revenge someone falls 5 stories off of a roof top terrace and survives. Another gets hit over the head with a rock and dies.

The balance of power on the show is always shifting. Some weeks Emily is in control, others Victoria. Then out of nowhere a random character shows up fresh from the strip club or from Harvard to take over the place and manages to grab the gauntlet.

Alliances are formed and then broken. People’s trust betrayed. Loyalties shifted.

Revenge is only 10 episodes in and it’s already had some pretty crazy, jaw dropping twists. The show is incredibly unpredictable and at times insane.

If you haven’t seen all the crazy twist and turns of Revenge lock yourself in your room and watch it all unfold.

5. Everyone else is doing it

If you are not watching Revenge you are not going to be prepared for any of the water cooler moments which will inevitably happen when the remainder of this season airs.

This show keeps getting juicier and juicier. The stakes continue to get higher. Everyone who is anyone is watching it. Why aren’t you?

ABC has given you a golden opportunity to catch up with the entire series before the new episode airs on Jan. 4. From the teasers the Jan. 4th episode promises to be a shock and awe episode which is sure to have everyone talking.

Catch up now, while you can or be forced into exile come Jan. 5th when everyone is talking about the latest episode of Revenge and you are out of the loop.

It’s your decision. Choose wisely.
