Community: Gleeful Christmas [Video]
We remain committed to Community and the #savecommunity (aka #savegreendale, aka #sixseasonsandamovie) campaign, however; we were not won over by Community’s christmas episode, entitled “Two Regional Holiday,” which aired last night.
Community’s “Regional Holiday Music” episode lacked focus. It had a lot of great moments, including Abed’s glee club awakening, Shirley’s tribute to Jesus and Abed and Troy’s rap, but Community’s christmas episode never quite came together.
Community let it’s hatred of Glee consume the entire episode. Yes, the episode was entertaining and hilarious, however; we’re not sure if Community actually accomplished anything with “Regional Holiday Music.” Community made strong arguments to it’s viewers against Glee but seemed to forget to present a solid case or present any compelling #savecommunity arguments during this week’s episode.
For Community’s “Regional Holiday Music” episode the sum of its parts were greater than its whole. We loved the musical numbers, loved the Glee bashing and even loved the performances by the cast of Community, but we did not fall head over heels when it came to this week’s episode as a whole.
We were not utterly disappointed by Community’s “Regional Holiday Music” episode but we cannot say we we’re impressed by it either. We still believe in the #savecommunity movement, however, we don’t think ”Regional Holiday Music” did anything to advance that movement.
