Last night Family Guy revealed the answer to one of the most lingering questions fans have about the show, “Why does everyone hate Meg?” We personally think the best explanation to the “why does everyone on Family Guy hate Meg” question is an answer involving Seth MacFarlane and the writing team (read more about that answer here). But it was interesting to see how the writers addressed that issue head on during this week’s episode.

This week MacFarlane and the Family Guy writing crew gave us a deeper explanation during the episode about why everyone hates Meg and revealed why it is important for everyone to continue to hate Meg.  The Family Guy episode uncovered why Meg is the butt of everyone’s jokes on the series and why this practice will continue long into the future. 

Family Guy took an interesting approach this week to the Meg as the black sheep issue. Throughout the Family Guy episode Meg fought back against her family’s attacks towards her. One by one, Meg confronted Chris, Lois and Peter about their bad behavior and horrible treatment. She questioned each family member individually and then proceeded to point out their faults as a form of retribution. Towards the end of the Family Guy episode, after her blunt criticism of each family member led to breakdowns, Meg had a frank discussion with Brian about why she needed to continue being the brunt of the family’s jokes in order to keep the family together as a unit.
