Labor Day Marathons: 10 Marathons we’re committing to this holiday weekend

After examining a full list of all the marathon’s going on this week on TVTango.com, we’ve come up with the list of the 10 marathon’s we will be sporadically tuning into this holiday weekend. Here’s what we’ve chosen to watch.

Saturday Marathons:

Hoarders (A&E- 3 pm to 4 am)- A long weekend right before fall means it’s time to get rid of the junk we’ve accumulated all summer. There is nothing more motivating than a Hoarders marathon to get us thinking about all the crap in our house we need to eliminate from our existence. Even better, when we quit cleaning out of sheer laziness we will not feel so guilty because we can fall back on the “well, at least I’m not as bad as the guy who hoards rats” excuse.

Lockup (MSNBC 6pm to 7 am)- There is nothing better than a Lockup marathon. 1. After the episode you feel very grateful for your freedom and 2. Lockup is one of the best reality shows on television.

Sunday Marathons:

Beyond Scared Straight (A&E Noon- 4pm) : One of the best and most buzzed about reality shows all year is Beyond Scared Straight. Our favorite part of any Beyond Scared Straight episode is watching the kids act tough, saying what they will do if a prisoner gets in their face, and then see that same kid break within 5 minutes of entering the prison. We also love the feel good moments of the show when the series showcases the story of a child whose life has been dramatically changed as a result of their participation in the program.

Awkward (MTV 11:30-3 pm): MTV has not really deliver quality programming this season when it comes to their scripted series (cough, cough, we’re looking at you Skins). However, they have knocked the ball out of the park with this new comedic series focusing on a girl who loses her virginity, discovers the meaning of “he’s just not that into you,” and is involved in an accident which makes everyone think she attempted to commit suicide. Tune in to see what all the critics and fans have been raving about.

Monday:

Bad Girls Club (Oxygen 11 am-10 pm)- Yea it’s really trashy and yes we are disappointed in ourselves for watching but who can resist the pull of a good catfight?

Dance Moms (Lifetime 8am-11am & 4 pm-2 am)- It’s one of the most controversial reality series since Toddlers and Tiaras. We love watching people make bad choices but we are not quite sure how we feel about watching people making bad choices with children’s lives. We’ll tune in to see if one of the dancers has a “I’m so excited” Jessie Saprano Saved By The Bell meltdown.

Jersey Shore (MTV 9 am-9pm)- Ever wondered how many times Ronnie or Sammi proclaimed that they are “done” or how many hookups there have been at the shore? Ever wonder whether our civilization is self-destructing and if Jersey Shore is absolute proof of that fact? If so, watch MTV’s marathon event. If this is what self-destruction looks like, we are happy to grab a bowl of popcorn, sit back and watch.

My So Called Life (Sundance 11 am- 8 pm)- Once upon a time, a long time ago, MTV produced original series with substance that catered to an audience that was intelligent. Then MTV decided we were too stupid for that and took the gift that was My So Called Life away. Take a walk down memory lane to better times when Sundance devotes a day to one of the best teenage dramas of all time.

Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scene (OWN 3 pm- 8pm)- We still miss Oprah… we still cry at night. At least Season 25 is here to comfort us in this dark hour.

Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family 11 am-9 pm)- Did you miss Adrian and Ben’s marriage, Ricky and Amy’s reunion, or Ashley’s sudden departure from the show? If so catch up with this day long event.

Which marathon will you be tuning into this weekend? Tell us in the comments below.
