You know what we love most about Ricky Gervais, that he never backs down. He makes a joke, he defends it. The entire media seems to be against him since the Golden Globes and he’s completely apathetic to it. Hollywood appears to scorn him and he moves on. Love him or hate him you have to respect the fact that he stands by what he says.
Last night Ricky Gervais went on Piers Morgan Tonight and he discussed the entire Golden Globes situation. During the interview Gervais defended his jokes at the Golden Globes saying he did not think he did anything wrong and said he was just addressing the elephants in the room. Gervais’ position is he had to roast members of Hollywood to be a good host.
Piers joked with Ricky that the situation was like inviting a shark to dinner and then getting upset when he ate everyone, saying you should have known what to expect.
We agree with Piers. Anyone who watched Ricky Gervais’ comedy knows what to expect from him. He makes jokes about the New Testament of The Bible. The man jokes about God and yet you expect him to play nice when it comes to Robert Downey Jr. Come on now.
The Golden Globes knew what to expect and are now trying to hang Ricky out to dry when some of his jokes did not go over so well.

It’s ironic. Since Hollywood made a big deal about the jokes, the jokes have gotten much more play then they ever would have had everyone just ignored them. And guess whose having the last laugh. That’s right, Ricky Gervais. Which once again proves that there is no such thing as bad press.
Did you think Ricky Gervais took it too far at the Golden Globes or is Hollywood just too sensitive? Comment below.
