We are two months in to the fall line up and we are finally ready to finalize our television schedule. Here is our definitive list for November of shows to play, shows to pass on and the trash reality shows for Monday night. Check back next week to see what “possible plays” make it onto our playlist and see the trash reality shows we are watching for the night.
Of Note: The Event is on hiatus this week and will not return until Nov. 8th.
TV Shows to Watch:
For those of you who have a tight schedule, here are our favorite new, returning and trash reality tv shows on Monday night.
New TV Show to Watch: The Event/Hawaii Five-0
Sorry, we should have been more decisive but we couldn’t pick between The Event and Hawaii Five-0. The Event is beginning to fill the void that Lost and 24 left. Meanwhile, Hawaii Five-0 is the perfect mix of action and drama. The cast of Hawaii Five-0 is also incredibly good looking and have the right amount of chemistry with one another. Both are on our playlist.
Returning TV Show to Watch: House
Hugh Laurie never disappoints as the title character House. This season the series heated up. House and Cuddy finally got together this season. We can stop asking ourselves if House and Cuddy will ever date. Now we are left wondering how long will House and Cuddy last. We also enjoy the medical mysteries in every episode.
Trash- Reality TV Show to Watch: Real Housewives of Atlanta
Kim and Nene never fail to bring the drama. We can always depend on Sheree to have a “who’s going to check me boo moment.” And we love the color commentary that Kandi and new housewife Cynthia provide but not as much as we love Phaedra’s boughetto moments.
Permanent Playlist: Our TV shows to watch runner-ups, watch live or catch up online.
In addition to our TV Shows to Watch there are other shows that make it on our permanent playlist for Monday night.
How I Met Your Mother: The series always has us laughing so hard that it hurts. Why is this show so great? Two words: Barney Frank
Weeds: Our favorite suburban drug dealer is on the lamb and we love seeing the family’s adventures as “The Newmans.” We also love to see the transformation of Shane from good kid into unremorseful drug dealer.
The Big C: Laura Lenny can do no wrong in her new Showtime series where she plays Cathy, a woman recently diagnosed with cancer who is trying to live life to the fullest. The show is touching, tender and at times hilarious.
Possible Plays: The Floaters
Sometimes these tv shows make it on to our playlist, other times we can do without them.
Chuck: The spy drama entertains occasionally but there are times when the series falls flat. We are not sure if Chuck and Sarah’s relationship is fun to watch or dragging down the series.
90210: The actors constantly over do it and border on cheesy but there are times when the plot lines suck us in. This month we will tune in as the series will feature Teddy’s struggle with his homosexuality and Nao
mi confronts her rapist, Mr. Cannon.
Two and a Half Men: Isn’t it ironic that Charlie on this series is constantly talking about hooking up with prostitutes? We will tune in a couple times this month to watch Charlie Sheen and see if life is imitating art or the other way around.
Lie to Me: The series has hit a rough patch this season and we are not really sure why. Maybe we are still bitter about the show replacing Lone Star on the lineup. Possible, but not likely, we’ve always loved Lie to Me and we are not sure why that has changed this season.
Gossip Girl: Every once and awhile we are up for the petty drama and superficial behavior that Gossip Girl offers us and but a lot of the times we are not. It depends on the day and our mood. At least the cast looks good in their perfect fashion ensembles week after week.
Dancing with the Stars: We generally don’t tune in until the last couple of episodes of the series. You know, until after the celebrities who obviously cannot dance get kicked out. We will tune in towards the end of the month to see the final stretch.
Mike and Molly: Easily the cheesiest yet most endearing show on television. Sometimes we are in the mood to ham it up with the cast of Mike and Molly and other times we are not.
Chase: There are days we love Annie and the rest of the US Marshall team. There are other days where the series becomes boring, predictable and unwatchable. It really depends week to week.
Permanent Pass:
Rules of Engagement: Monday night does not
have a lot of bad television, luckily Rules of Engagement gives us something to write about for our pass list. We love David Spade but we do not love him enough to tune in.
Trash:
Buried Life and World of Jenks: These inspirational MTV documentary/reality series occasionally suck us in. When we tune in we have the box of Kleenex ready. Sometimes we watch live on Monday nights but most of the time though we catch up with the episodes on reruns.
Hoarders: We always have a running over and under bet on when the clean up crew will find a cat carcass under a pile of rotting food. Anytime our house gets too messy we turn this show on to motivate us and to make us feel better since we haven’t gotten to that point…yet…
Occasional Trash:
Mario Lopez: Saved By the Baby (horrible title)
My Big Friggin’ Wedding (waiting for the season premiere and a couple episodes before we make a final determination on this show).
