Brothers and Sisters: Tommy Returns
Premise: Brady Bunch: True Hollywood Story
Last night on “Brothers and Sisters” Tommy, played by Balthazar Getty, returned. Getty was kicked off the show in an effort to cut costs. The producers believed that Getty’s character, Tommy, was not really going to be missed and decided to write him off the show. We wholeheartedly disagreed with the decision at the time it was announced but now we think that the producers made the right decision. To be honest, we did not really miss Tommy and had completely forgotten about him. When he showed up we were happy to see him but when he announced that he was leaving again we were not really that sad. We hope Justin is the next to go, he whines way too much.
In the episode Tommy had a secret. Tommy just learned that his wife Julia wanted a divorce and he did not tell his family that he has been restricted from talking to his daughter, Elizabeth. Nora discovered the truth and Tommy asked her to keep it a secret from the family. Tommy has been away far too long, why would he think his mother could hold in a secret? In true “Brothers and Sisters” fashion the truth came out at the Walker family dinner. Our favorite moment of the dinner fight is when Cooper, Sarah’s son, announced that he wanted to stay and “watch the end of the fight.” Oh Cooper, don’t you know you’re a Walker, there will be another family dinner and another family fight in your future.
Watch another classic Walker family dinner fight here:
In last night’s episode we also got to see another Walker family tradition, the three way, turned 5 way call. These 5 way calls are the best part of the show, we didn’t realize how essential they are to the show until Kitty and Nora called up everyone last night to announce Tommy’s return. We love watching all the Walker clan get on the phone, talk over each other, reveal secrets, and make important announcements. We love when all the Walkers get on the phone and clamor for attention. The phone moments are always our favorite moments on the show and we miss them.
In other “Brothers and Sisters” news, Kevin and Scotty found a surrogate. Scotty’s friend volunteered to carry their baby. Scotty and Kevin both thought this would make the process of surrogacy simple, however, Kevin made the matter complicated by demanding that the surrogate sign a contract. We agreed with Kevin’s rationale during the episode, contracts are sometimes a necessary part of life and if someone is resistant to a contract then they are probably not mature enough to have a baby. In the end Kevin and the surrogate settled their differences and she agree to get a lawyer to help her with the contract.
Sarah is still dating her french lover, Luc Laurent played by the gorgeous Gilles Marini. Sarah’s daughter, Paige, learned the truth about the relationship and encouraged her mother to let Luc move out of Nora’s place and into the guest room during his visit.
Kitty is still battling cancer and seems to be doing really well.
Justin was whining about something or other this episode. Please get rid of him!
Saul caught Ryan snooping for William Walker’s arch enemy, Dennis York. Ryan has been stealing company information and secrets and sending it to York. Ryan was able to fend off Saul with a lie but he is close to being caught.
York was up to no good again this episode. York tried to offer to by Holly’s shares this episode. He learned her life savings were taken during a ponzi scheme and thought it was the perfect opportunity to take controlling shares in the company and continue his evil plot. Holly refused to sell her controlling interest in Ojai and she hoping this new cheap wine will help salvage the company and her savings. We will see how long it will take for Holly to give in.
A lot was going on but Tommy, his new “zen like” attitude, and his new Mole recipe which he was cooking for the family for this infamous dinner, were the focus. We did not miss Tommy but his return signaled the return of the infamous 5 way call which made us remember why we love this show.
