Brothers and Sisters: Bring a Klennex

Premise: Brady Bunch: True Hollywood Story

We literally drowned in our tears during this weeks “Brothers and Sisters.” Kitty has cancer and has to have treatment. Kitty was trying to keep the cancer a secret from her brothers and sisters, but the Walkers have a funny way of sniffing out secrets and that did not last very long. The media got wind of the story, a non-family member told Kevin, and since Kevin knew the entire family had to know the truth.

Was the scene between Kevin and Kitty not heartbreaking:

The best part is that Kitty thought it would be a good idea to reveal this cancer information right before a Walker family dinner. Of course, it’s a Walker family dinner so every Walker flipped out and started arguing about the best course of action in the kitchen.

Kitty was left alone and finally came into the kitchen giving a short monologue about how she thought the Walkers could have a nice family dinner and act normal. She told her that she was disappointed because they were not acting like themselves and she was wrong to believe they could just go back to being normal after she drop such a big bombshell. How are the Walkers not acting normal? This situation is normal for the family, Walker family dinner, argument, drama. That is the Walker Family M.O.

There were a lot of endearing moments last night, including a final dinner scene where the family comes together and moments where everyone expressed concern over Kitty’s health.

The moment that almost made us bawl (and by almost we mean did) is when Sarah, played by Rachel Griffiths, and Kitty, played by Calista Flockhart, returned and Kitty let go of her tough facade she was putting on for her family. There was not one word in that scene but you could tell though the way Kitty and Sarah hugged that they were going to use each other get through a very difficult time. Flockhart and Griffith conveyed an entire message through a hug. In that moment the audience learned the strength and depth of their sisterhood and knew that Sarah would rise to the challenge and protect her little sister. We love this show.
